The Carolina Hurricanes are a National Hockey League team, based in Raleigh, North Carolina. The Hurricanes were founded in 1971 as the New England Whalers of the World Hockey Association. Set in 19th-century Paris, the show follows the story of chorus girl Christine Daaé and the mysterious phantom, a disfigured musical genius living in the bowels of the Paris Opera House. While tutoring her on her vocals, the Phantom becomes dangerously obsessed with Christine, and as he begins to make his presence known, the growing tension within the opera house culminates in the Phantom and Christine meeting face to face. The recipient of both the Tony Award and Olivier Award for Best Musical, the show is Broadway's longest-running musical.
