This small and cozy restaurant is simple yet great. The Vietnamese cuisine served here is much appreciated in the neighborhood. Some of the dishes you can try here are the egg rolls that are delicious, kitchen sink fried rice that has all that it should, pho broth and the chicken curry. The ambiance is warm, friendly and comfortable, as well as the service is good too. You may also want to hire this place for private parties and functions. »Odd Duck

Owners Melissa Buchholz and Ross Bachhuber run this restaurant based on the principle of shared plates and communal ingredients. The menu is hard to define because their influences range from French traditionalism to Asian fusion. For example, you can order Steamed Mussels in a Shallot Apple Broth or Lo Mein with Crispy Wonton and Tofu for something completely different. Nonetheless, the kitchen brings different farm-to-table flavors every day with their innovative small plate menus and charcuterie boards which are some of the best in the city.

    »Braise

Braise is not only one of the most promising restaurants in Milwaukee, it is also committed to teaching its diners about where food comes from and how it is processed. All of the ingredients in the dishes are locally sourced whenever possible and the owners even have their own culinary school in the restaurant. The menu changes daily, however some of the examples on the menu include a cheese plate, trout, pork loin and other Nouvelle American inspired cuisine. The bar menu includes many local beers and a superb wine list for those who wish to try a varietal.

    »Crazy Water

This restaurant located in the trendy neighborhood of Walker's Point focuses on American fusion cuisine and innovative modern plates that don't stray too far from comfort food. For example, the chicken tacos with goat cheese are superb and the artichokes stuffed with garlic breadcrumbs could easily be made at home, but they may not be as good. As an entree, the Niman Ranch Flatiron Steak is grass-fed greatness and the New Jersey diver scallops in a Meyer lemon beurre blanc are manna from heaven. The wine list is small but well-curated and it primarily features wines from California.
