National Watch & Clock Museum in Columbia has a huge collection of time-related objects. Opened in 1977, today it houses over 12,000 artifacts including timepieces, clocks and watches spanning several eras and countries. It has one of the widest horological items in North America. Built in the 1700s by Paul Gemberling, one of the earliest German settlers in the community, the property Gemberling-Rex House comprises of the half-timbered house, a bake oven, a smoke house and an incompletely built stone barn. Located in Schaefferstown, within a township called Heidelberg, PA, the Rex House forms an important landmark and represents the village origins and underlying culture. Now managed and owned by Historic Schaefferstown, Inc it is open to public for informative tours every Tuesday from 1p to 4p.
Milton Hershey, who was born in 1857, was not only a confectioner and a founder of the Chocolate Hershey Company, but also a founder of the Hershey town. Situated along the Chocolate Avenue, the Hershey Story Museum offers an interesting journey into his life through interactive displays, exhibitions and educational objects. The museum consists of a Chocolate Lab, where visitors get a first hand knowledge on chocolate making. There is also a museum shop that sells souvenirs, and Cafe Zooka, which offers chocolate desserts and snacks.
A non-profit organization and part of Antique Automobile Club of America, the Hershey Region Chuck Wagon Lodge promotes sportsmanship by hosting various events and exhibitions in antique automobiles.
For all those who love cars, Antique Auto Museum is a must stop, while visiting Hershey's. Boasting a huge collection of vintage cars, this museum has several such cars displayed under the different settings. In the process of increasing the 1920 collection, you will be simply awed by the cars here, which have been so well-maintained and preserved. Several educational and school tours are organized by this museum, which offer an insight into the history of these expensive beauties.
