    Wade Bowen
    Big Texas - SpringOctober 24, 2014 10:00 PM
    19959 Holzwarth Road.
    Spring, TX 77388
Wade Bowen, raised in Texas, released his debut album in 2002. He is often associated with the genre known as "red dirt," though Bowen has a grittier voice than most of the other artists in the category. Bowen doesn't try to hide his background or who he is: he doesn't wear a cowboy hat and he doesn't moan about being a country boy. Instead, Wade Bowen takes a more mature stance on country by observing the characters of his hometown and writing honest rock songs and ballads from these observations.

Murakami Music: Stories Of Loss and Nostalgia
Asia Society Texas CenterOctober 25, 2014 7:30 PM
    1370 Southmore Boulevard
    Houston, TX 77004
"Murakami Music: Stories of Loss and Nostalgia" pays homage to Japanese literary master Haruki Murakami, who has won international acclaim for such works as "The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle," "Norwegian Wood" and "Kafka on the Shore." Musicians Eunbi Kim and Laura Yumi Snell revisit musical references from the author's works for a performance that -- in typical Murakami fashion -- blurs the lines between the real and the surreal. The duo employs works by artists like Bach, Nat King Cole and The Beatles, while blending in theatrical readings that bring Murakami's fantasy-filled words to life.
