    Seattle-based outfit La Luz is a rock and roll outfit that recalls the 1960s girl-group sound with a fusion of doo wop, pop and surf rock sounds. The all-female outfit offers four part harmonies and even the occasional choreographed dance steps during live shows, but adds in lush reverb and twangy riffs to give its music a rougher edge. La Luz released its debut EP, Damp Face, in 2012.

    By blending elements of funk and metal with experimental rock, the Bay Area-based group Primus innovated a style of neo-progressive rock. The three-piece was formed in the mid-1980s but didn't see its breakthrough until the 1990s with the release of its debut LP Frizzle Fry, in 1990. Though the band called it quits in 2000 after five more records, Primus returned in 2003 and began playing select shows at festivals and music venues around the world. The band released its seventh studio album Green Naugahyde, in 2011.

    Blues and rock jammers Gov't Mule have been playing their soulful extended blues since 1994. The New York based group began originally as an Allman Brothers side project of Warren Haynes and Allen Woody. When the Allman Brothers slowed in producing new material, the duo recruited Matt Abts on drums and began focusing solely on Gov't Mule. Now they are a familiar sight on the playbill of many major music festivals across the country, and are known for lots of guest performances from musical cohorts they're befriended along their journey.
