    »Communion Daytrotter

    September 19, 2014 7:00 PM

Singer/songwriter Jessica Lea Mayfield is an Ohio-based artist who writes gothic folk songs with a subtle twang. Generally crooning about fairly dark topics - unfaithfulness, insanity and loneliness - Mayfield sings with enough innocence and warmth to keep her music rather charming. Mayfield first appeared as a guest vocalist on The Black Keys album Attack & Release and impressed front-man Dan Auerbach so much that he offered to produce her debut and subsequent albums. After grabbing the attention of revered label Nonesuch, Mayfield released her second album to widespread acclaim in 2011.

    »Beach Boys

    September 20, 2014 6:30 PM

The Beach Boys are primarily known for their impressive vocal harmonies and a knack for writing catchy, pop friendly songs. The band is also widely regarded to be one of the most important bands to emerge from the 60s and it has gone down as one of the most influential bands in history. While the members have since had their differences and tour without Brian Wilson, the front man that most credit as the crucial and most talented member of the Beach Boys, they do still perform songs that rouse nostalgia in the audience.

    »A Neil Diamond Tribute

    October 04, 2014 7:30 PM

Neil Diamond is one of the archetypes of the adult contemporary genre. His pop sensibilities and easy to like personality lifted him to prominence in the '70s with a slew of radio friendly hits. Though the New York singer/songwriter could easily have fallen into the baneful world of Las Vegas lounge singers as his career hit its twilight phase, Diamond managed to persist and stay somewhat relevant with fresh studio releases and a consistent touring schedule.

Hailing from Athens, GA The Whigs are a garage rock trio that creates southern blues-tinged rock n' roll. After forming in 2002 the band strategically planned monthly shows in New York while playing clubs around Athens, building a fan base in its home state while also branching out onto the East Coast. The Whigs recorded and released its debut album Give Em All a Big Fat Lip, in 2005, and began gathering media attention from independent and then mainstream sources. By 2006 the band signed to ATO Records who re-released its debut album as well as its subsequent records. While 2008's Mission Control is more of the band's signature garage rock revival sound, The Whigs branched out for its 2010 album In the Dark, which leans toward indie rock.

Based on the book of the same title by John Gray, it conveys the essentialist view of the differences between men and women. This innovative adaptation of the relationship between the opposite sexes uses examples and specific behaviors to make its case.
